Christmas just ended and, as usual, I have eaten more desserts in the past month than I do all summer long. There's something about the holiday cheer (and cabin fever) that encourages the consumption of sweets. Lots and lots of sweets.My roommates and I are all from Ohio. We love the city, but we also love talking about all things Ohio, so when my lovely roommates set to make cookies in the spirit of an Ohio Christmas--revving up the anticipation for the trip there--they made Buckeyes! Most people know of these as Peanut Butter Balls, but to Ohioans, they're Buckeyes, and they're a holiday staple.
I am back in New York after a lovely escape to beautiful, rural Athens, Ohio. It feels great to be back in the city but I just may start another batch of Buckeyes (yes, post-Christmas) just to ease me out of my wistful Ohio reminiscing.
